Technology fans eager to get their hands on Google’s () high-tech Google Glass headset will have a special chance to buy the headgear next week.
Google has
— open to the general public — on April 15. Currently, only early adopters who join the Google’s Explorer program have been able to purchase Google Glass, which sells for about $1,500 under the program.
In an announcement on Google+, the search engine and tech giant noted that it has been looking at ways to expand the Explorer program. In order to attract a greater range of users — who will provide more feedback to Google about the Google Glass experience — the company will let any U.S. adult enroll in the Explorer program and purchase Google Glass on Tuesday .
Purchasers who take advantage of the one-day sale will get a Google Glass with their choice of shades or frame for $1,500. Plus tax, of course. The one-day sale applies only to adults living in the U.S. Google says it isn’t ready to introduce Google Glass outside the U.S. just yet.
GOOG stock fell more than 1% in Friday pre-market trading.
